Looking to the other side of the Atlantic it is hard to miss the rising popularity of Donald Trump. It is also hard to miss how divisive he is both at home and abroad.
Undoubtedly one of the reason for his popularity at home is his tough stance on immigration with headlines such as:
- Donald Trump wants to deport every single illegal immigrant
- Donald Trump urges ban on Muslims coming to US
- Donald Trump would suspend immigration from areas of world with “history of terrorism”
- Trump proposes racial profiling as a tactic ‘to start thinking about’
With so many Americans seemingly agreeing with him (and I know many who do not) is Donald Trump doing more to divide the world than unite it? By breading hatred of the rest of the world within the US, is he also increasing the hatred of the United States in the rest of the world too? If so, does that increase the risk to the US and its allies?
